Now I know I had promised that I'd update yesterday, but I was tired and didn't get a chance to. in my own deluded world, I've convinced myself that you were just dying to see what I did next in Venice, so without further ado, Venice!
Gorgeous, ain't it? We got there around 2 and took a boat ride to the biggest island, San Marco. When we arrived, we only had a couple of minutes to admire the scenario before we were herded, yes, I said herded, onto the gondola rides.
The gondola rides were pleasant, and there was a man who was serenading us throughout the entire ride. He sang some familiar songs, but he also sang La Vie En Rose, which I guess in Italian is La Vita en Rosa? Anyway, it was a very French song that I always associated with Paris and Sabrina, so that threw me for a loop.
After the gondola rides, we walked to the San Marco Plaza and looked at the original Campanile and the gorgeous church. We opted for dinner first as we had exactly 90 minutes to eat and take pictures before we had to be back on the ferry to take us to the coach. Food was decent. The pizza was a little salty, but the thin crust was out of this world and... it was seafood. Why aren't there more seafood pizzas here is beyond me! It's delicious! Someone make this available to the masses!Sadly, when we were done with dinner, the church was closed for the day, and we did not get to see the inside of the church. Next time, I would like to climb up to the top of the church cathedral and look at the great scene that is Venice is one breath-taking panoramic. Also, because I'm a lush, I was also sad that I could not find Harry's Bar. Next time... belinis and church! which... may or may not go well together.
Tomorrow's preview? Florence!
