Day 1 in Japan

Goodbye Taiwan! Hello Japan! It's always bittersweet when I leave Taiwan. My grand-father always tears up and I can't help but tear up with him. I'll be back soon enough!

The luggage checking in experience was interesting. They x-rayed my bag and found something suspicious. Instead of opening my luggage to take a look, they took me out of the line for the security and had me open my bag. It turned out that they did not approve of my ankle weights...only because they couldn't tell what it was through the x-ray. They preferred not to open the bag for privacy reasons. Thanks... but now I was also late for the plane. I ran to the gate only to be one of the last ones to board. The plane ride to Japan was rocky. Thankfully I have the ability to sleep before incredible nausea hits so crisis was averted. Meal on the plane was Japanese style fried chicken. They get points for the seasoning, but lost incredibly on the crispy criterion. It wasn't worth the calories! Once I landed in Japan, the custom agent asked me where the address that I wrote down on the entry form. I let them know that it was Hiro's grandmother, but they wanted her name... I didn't know it... much awkwardness ensued before they finally let me go.

Phew! After all of that, I was finally in Tokyo and Hiro met me in the waiting area without much trouble. We soon met up with Hiro's grandmother and uncle to eat some delicious unagi(eel) followed by a nice walk around Ginza(Tokyo's Rodeo Drive). Now, we're getting ready to sleep so that we can go to the delicious fish market for a sushi breakfast. Enjoy the pictures!
