Week -1: Review Classes

After my parents left, it was a quick 2 days before I had to start my review classes. I opted to take the accounting the economics classes figuring that it would be a good way to get back into school mode and meet some of my classmates. Having 8:30AM classes doesn't suck as much seeing that I'm less than a block away. However, getting motivation to work out before my class has not come to fruition yet. It better come soon or the snow will come soon and then there will be no motivation to workout. In terms of course work, the professors were really good and I didn't forget as much as I had thought... who knew that I remembered Balance Sheets, Income Statements and Statement of Cash Flow oh my!

We're pretty much settled in now since the television has arrived. We still need to figure out how to decorate since the white walls are a bit drab, but Andy came by last week and he said that it wasn't as bad as he had thought, so I'll consider that a compliment to my decorating skills!

On Thursday, we had a welcome dinner. It was a clambake so it was filled with lobster, clams/mussels, steak and other delicious foods. It was fun watching people trying to figure out how to dismantle an entire lobster and the different approaches. Hiro and I were old hands at this, so it was pretty fun. I have no idea how Berkeley would have treated their students, but this dinner felt pretty unique and from my perspective, decidedly private school like. It also felt like our last good meal before the intense semester ahead!

Anyway, this is the last day before orientation. Hiro is frantically cooking since both of us won't be home enough to cook next week. The great thing is that most of my meals are covered next week, so I won't be consuming much at home... he's cooking more for self-preservation.

One pet peeve that I have is that most people assume that Hiro is doing the MBA and I'm just the little wife. I knew that this was going to happen before we moved here, but it still annoys me. At least there was one guy who charmingly apologized for being sexist, but others are not so apologetic. I know I just need to get over it, but this is just a good way of venting. Okay, I should help Hiro with food now.
